Convallaria majalis (Lily of the Valley)

Convallaria majalis (Lily of the Valley)

This is an Old World Native with classic charm. A creeping green carpet ground cover 6-8 inches high blooms from arching stems with fragrant downturned white bells in early spring. Enchanting and attractive throughout the growing season, deciduous in winter. Needs shade and water, but no other additional care. Some people seemed surprised that Lilly of the Valley does well in our area, but Lilly of the Valley is really an adaptable plant it may not grow as lush as it would in coastal areas, but is also less invasive here. We have been more successful planting out clumps of Lilly of the Valley as opposed to bare root pips, bare root pips are often sold at the wrong time of the year (spring) pips planted in spring will do poorly. Once established Lilly of the Valley forms a tight nit attractive green carpet you will be sure to enjoy. All parts of this plant are poisonous if ingested.
